How do I get my prescriptions refilled?If possible, please call us during office hours to have your prescriptions refilled. As soon as your physician has an opportunity to review your medical record, our staff will call your pharmacist with your refill request. Please note that we do not routinely refill narcotic prescriptions.

What if I have an emergency?In the event of a life-threatening emergency, call 911. In the event of an urgent situation during evening hours or on weekends, please call the hospital switchboard at 906-449-3000 and your message will be forwarded to the “on call” surgeon who will make every effort to respond to your emergency needs promptly.

What if your physicians are delayed?Surgical Associates physicians play a major role in the emergency general surgical attending coverage for UP Health System-Marquette and UP Health System-Bell. The physicians of Surgical Associates are committed to providing timely care for patients requiring surgical services and to seeing emergency and urgent cases as soon as possible. As a result, there may be occasions when our physicians fall behind in their office schedules due to either unexpected emergencies or extended surgical procedures. Should an unavoidable delay occur, our staff will make every effort to keep scheduled patients notified. If you are unable to wait for your physician, our office will reschedule your appointment for a time that is more convenient. Be sure to ask our receptionist if your appointment is delayed more than 15 minutes to check on your appointment’s status.

How can I make a payment?Payment of required copayments are expected when services are rendered. We accept most major credit cards, cash, and personal checks. If you are uninsured, or experiencing financial difficulties, please contact one of our billing specialists at 906-225-3964, who will gladly provide cost estimates for various services, determine insurance coverage, and discuss financial arrangements that are suited to your budget. Please remember that your insurance policy is a contract between you and your carrier. It is ultimately your responsibility to understand the provisions of your policy and to assure payment for services rendered to you.
